Well we have officially been here a week. Its weird because I look back and think wow its been a week! But then during the day I swear time stops. Maybe its because we sleep so little and are ready to go by 6 that the days really are just longer but I don't know. We do so much in a day.
We have started teaching at Delta, the school most of our kids go too. Its very difficult to keep their attention but Kailey and I (who I teach with) have a very good system in keeping them focused. Their is a lot of talent in our class and reading their papers is very enjoyable. I love interacting with all of them. The nights are spent helping the kids with their homework. We all had a pretty big emotional breakdown after the kids had gone to bed. Its just so much harder actually DO this. To see how behind they all are, to see how much they crave attention and love and to know we can only offer them these things for a few measly weeks. Why is it so much money to go out and do these things. Its heartbreaking. Obviously we can't let this get us down or affect us to much. We have kids to play with!
Yesterday we all washed our clothes for the first time by hand. My little, soft, weak, white American hands were all but useless in this work. CC (the cook and our friend) helped us. She is wonderful. Seriously I don't know how people do this. I am so spoiled. I have day dreams about air conditioning and Subway sandwiches.... sad I know. I shouldn't have said that my stomach is rumbling.
After we left Delta today we went to the Special School. We love ti there. The land is beautiful as are the kids. They have so very little and it was nice to just be with them. I have a new boyfriend. ha ha He's great ;)
Well lots to do and very little time left! Only 3 weeks! I love and miss you all!
