Shock and Awe.

So yesterday my visa for Ghana came. I was thinking that once I had my visa in my passport it would feel real. I would realize I am actually going to Africa. Nope. Still don't believe it. I think I will be on the airplane over the Atlantic ocean and I will suddenly realize... Whoa. I am on my way to Africa. The weather has been gorgeous the past few days. All I want to do is be outside! Now its raining with a thunderstorm warning, but I love the occasional thunderstorm.

Now for the real shocking news. I Larissa Lynn Smith fell asleep at 9:30. Its a miracle! Unfortunately I woke up at 3:45 am in pain, but managed to fall asleep again by 4:30. Impressive yes? Ok not that big of an accomplishment... Lets see if I can make it a trend. 9:30 is a bit early but I would like to be asleep by eleven each night. Wouldn't that be nice? Maybe in a dream world but maybe its just a mind over matter thing?

So my roommate Heather and I get into this friendly banter about the word try. One of my favorite quotes is by Yoda (yes I realize I am a nerd) "Do or do not. There is no try." I completely agree with this statement. There is no such thing as trying. There is either succeeding or failing (unless your playing horse shoes or throwing hand grenades I suppose.) Our goal should not be to try to get good grades, our goal should be to GET good grades. I believe we give our self reason to fail if we are merely trying. The mind is a powerful thing and we need to give our self more motivation. We need to see the end result, see our selves succeeding and WORK towards that. Don't ever doubt yourself! Most importantly don't ever doubt the Lord. All things are possible through Him and He wants nothing more than our happiness. We just have to remember what are priorities are. Merely my opinion. What do you think? Is there really such thing as trying?

Hmm, that's interesting to think about. I think it's a good point that maybe sometimes when we say, "I'll try" we aren't saying it whole-heartedly and that's when "try" should be taken out of the picture. Put then there are other times like when we decide to try-out for a sports team that all we can realistically do is try our best. The decision of whether we'll be on the team or not isn't up to us. I like this post. It made me think :)

Could point... but I don't think we try our best we DO our best. We can only control our performance not their decision. But your right they are called try-outs for a reason ha ha
