The Interviewer

I am in a simple room
With a single door
Wondering where I am
As I anxiously pace the floor

Then a voice comes
From the other room
Dispelling all my fears
Chasing away my gloom

Two men converse inside
Voices soft and low
I wonder "should I leave?"
But know I cannot go

The interviewer asks the man
What he knows of Christ
The man replies with confidence
Certain he has no vice

"He hailed from Nazareth
And taught in Galilee
His father was a carpenter
His disciples fished the sea"

"Yes that's very nice"
The interviewer had a smile
"But what else do you know?"
He asked, free of hate or guile

"Well he died for all the world"
he began, a bit unsure this time
"He taught with love, healed the sick
And even turned water into wine"

With a smile and a thanks
The interviewer stood
The man was right behind
Certain he'd done good

Then the man came out
And sat down in a chair
He fidgeted in his place
And nervously raked his hair

"Please come in"
The voice did call
Slowly I stood
Wishing I could stall

I entered with baited breath
The room was bright and clean
The interviewer was content
To let me survey the scene

Then I saw the interviewer
And kneeling with a cry
I couldn't believe what I could see
But knew it was no lie

The interviewer was the Lamb
My Savior, and my King
And even though I couldn't well
I yearned that I could sing

Will you know him when he calls
You to that Heavenly place
Is your relationship strong enough
That you'll recognize his face?

394

394 days seems like nothing when eyes closed
Chocolate skin, velvet hands, the air of sweet laughter
fills my mind and senses to the brim
and I find that smile I was after

394 days seems like a lifetime ago
when I long to hold them in my arms
and yearn to watch them grow

In my dreams I hear them say
Sister sister! Look at me
As they dance and sing; for work is play
though few of us would agree

"You are welcome"
A sincere and eager greet
from those with in the orphanage
and all the villagers I meet

394 days ago a single life was changed
traveling by plane across the sea
I went to change the world
but instead their world changed me

Eternal Marriage

The other day on my break I was bored, so I was once again browsing lds.org. I came across a talk that within it said, "Eternal marriage is godlike marriage. The term eternal describes the quality of marriage as much as its duration. What type of marriage would our God have? That is a question worthy of our contemplation." (Yes I know this is horrible referencing I can't find the talk again!)

It indeed is worthy of our contemplation, my brain has been focused on it for nearly 24 hours now. Eternity isn't just a duration, but an expectation of quality. As Latter Day Saints we don't (or I suppose I should say SHOULDN'T) come out of the temple and think BAM I'm married forever. It doesn't work that way. Its only secure as long as you live worthy of those blessings.

So how DOES God's marriage work? We know very little about this. Most importantly we do know he loves his wife. I find God a die hard romantic because he won't reveal the name of his sweetheart in fear the world will take her name in vain as so many of their children do to him.

I expected marriage to be this crazy adjustment, but in reality its come very natural to us. I feel like if you are ready and prepare yourself accordingly marriage isn't going to come as a shock. Yes its different, and there will always be things to figure out, but its more than worth it.

Knowing I am sealed to my best friend for time and all eternity makes me want to always live worthy of that.

In Elder Russel M Nelson's talk Nurturing Marriage he says, "Marriage is the foundry for social order, the fountain of virtue, and the foundation for eternal exaltation. Marriage has been divinely designated as an eternal and everlasting covenant. Marriage is sanctified when it is cherished and honored in holiness. That union is not merely between husband and wife; it embraces a partnership with God. “Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other.” Children born of that marital union are “an heritage of the Lord.” Marriage is but the beginning bud of family life; parenthood is its flower. And that bouquet becomes even more beautiful when graced with grandchildren. Families may become as eternal as the kingdom of God itself."

We've been married 2 and a half weeks. CLEARLY we aren't experts on marriage, but we do have the love and support of some one who is. Our Father in Heaven loves us and as long as we keep the focus of our little family centered on Him, our marriage will NEVER fail.

I love knowing when I get off work I get to come home to Garren. I love knowing if I wake up scared in the middle of the night he will be next to me. I love knowing my best friend will be there for me always. I love knowing He will be the father of my children, (which wont be happening any time soon. Sorry. :P) and I love having the opportunity to love and serve him.

Last post as a single woman! :O

Yep its 1:38 am on May 5th. First of all Happy Tenth Anniversary Kyle and Heather! My soon to be brother and sister- in- law. TEN YEARS?! That is amazing. I already love them. Heather and I went to St. George today and I loved getting to know her. I know we will all have so much fun in the future.

Second. I GET MARRIED TOMORROW! Let me tell you this week has been rough. It seems like every thing has gone wrong.... from sickness to pink eye to getting pulled over (44 in a 40 zone... really? I mean yeah I was speeding by 4 miles but COME ON ! ha oh well I just got a warning) to the city messing up and now not having a place for the reception... ok we have a place its just not the place we were supposed to have it and its smaller. But its beautiful and I am so grateful that we found it and that they are letting us use it. (Don't worry we will post the address soon and there will be signs up at the original location and everything is going to work out. :P)

Any way none of it even matters because I am marrying my best friend in the temple. The temple is amazing. Going through it was on of the most beautiful moments in my life and I can't wait to go back. Tomorrow we go to Manti and I refuse to let anything stress me out. My families are are amazing. Every one stayed so calm, took control and figured it all out. I have such a wonderful support system. Mara and my sister even came out to the Allred's and helped with last minute things.

Last weekend Kyle graduated from College! Yay! Basically no matter how many silly stupid things go wrong they aren't going to win. Garren makes me insanely happy and he is going to be my husband. I couldn't ask for anything more.

This weekend is going to be amazing and such a party! Come if you have time! :) Thank you all so much!

I can count it on my fingers baby!

Yep thats right 10 days! I can hardly even handle it! I have moved into our apartment and I LOVE it. Its tiny and stinking adorable. I will put pictures up once its all set up. Garren and Jerry brought our table over today... let me tell you Garren did an amazing job. Its the most beautiful table I have ever seen in my whole life!

Sometimes I can't believe how blessed I am. I am marrying the most wonderful man in the entire universe. I can't wait to spend eternity with my very best friend.

Easter was great. I spoke in Sacrament and I was rather pleased with my ability to do it with out throwing up ;) ha ha Then Garren and I went to my parents house and watched Lucas do his Easter egg hunt. SO CUTE! I love him to death. Then we went to Garren's parents house and had a delicious dinner. I love our families and am grateful we will get to live near all of them for the next couple of years. The next week and a half is sure to be absolutely crazy.

I don't even know if I will get to blog again.... who knows the next time I blog I may be Mrs. Allred :) Saying that gave me butterflies. Should I admit that?

Worst Blogger Award

I use to blog quite frequently, now I almost never do. I would say its sad but its really not. I don't blog because I am so busy! Between work, wedding planning, doing things for our apartment, and spending time with each other there just isn't enough time to blog!

Life is pretty exciting these days.... and pretty stressful. I am not good with stress. Really I should be grateful that we found an apartment, have wonderful supportive families/friends, and I am marrying my favorite person in the entire universe. I am :)

Last weekend I went to Provo. My best friends threw me a bridal shower. I love them so much! I also go my dress. Now I have known for a couple months that I am getting married, but it just hit me so hard on Saturday. I AM GETTING MARRIED. Life will never be the same. I am so grateful for all of the things I have been able to experience. I went to BYU for a few semesters, I lived in New York, my hearts been broken... a few... times, I went to Africa, and I learned who I am, or rather who I can become.

But now? Now I am ready to share my life completely with some one. To love selflessly and build a family. I am ready to marry my best friend, to laugh, to learn, to disagree, to get through trials together and to experience everything the Lord has in store for us.

See if I just learned to remember all of this I wouldn't let all the dumb little things that stress me out make me grumpy. This is a pathetic excuse for a post (I say that frequently these days) but now I am going to go hug my fiancée for being so patient and loving and putting up with my crazy stressed out behavior. He is a keeper.
